Join Rep Nerat's Fight to STOP the Asian Carp Invasion
Asian carp keep making their way through Illinois waters, closer and closer to our Great Lakes. If the invasive species makes it into Lake Michigan, it will take over the native fish and plant life in our waters and disrupt the ecological balance. They'd wreak havoc on the Great Lakes' $7 billion fishing industry, our $9 billion boating industry and our vital tourism industry – putting hundreds of thousands of Michigan jobs at risk.
Asian carp DNA has already been found in Lake Michigan and unless the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers acts immediately to close two Chicago-area shipping locks, this invasive species will have free rein of our Great Lakes.
Yes! I demand that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers close two Chicago-area shipping locks immediately before Asian carp destroy the Great Lakes forever.
